Chapter 170: Testing
Shane felt slightly exhausted after his day-long task, so he retreated to his small room.
This time, he finally decided to spend his hard-earned money or Zombie Cores.
Just from the two Treasure Chests that he opened a while ago, he already managed to obtain 150 Zombies Cores!
He also obtained Zombie Cores from 10 Flasher Zombies, numerous Caver Dweller Zombies, Screamer Zombies, Tyrant Zombies, and Crypt Crawler Zombies… That gave him a total of 174 more Zombies Cores, including the ones he obtained from killing the Flesh Puker Zombie.
So when Shane checked his inventory, he couldn't help but smile seeing 562 Zombie Cores.
Needless to say, he finally felt comfortable spending his 'money' with this much savings.
Once again, Shane opened his Survivor Store to see the items being sold.
The first thing he purchased was, of course, the Drone!
[ Tactical Combat Drone ( Master ):
Description: An autonomous drone equipped with a camera and a small-caliber gun. It can scout ahead, provide real-time surveillance, and offer support during skirmishes.
Price: 100 Zombie Cores
Quantity: 1/1 ]
He decided not to check the item after purchasing it since he wasn't done purchasing items yet.
There were two items in his Survivor Store that could last for 7 days. One of them was the Drone and the other was the Amulet worth 1000 Zombie Cores!
That was quite expensive, but because he was the first to reach level 19, he was able to receive a decent reward. It was the 90% Off Voucher!
[ 90% Off Voucher used! ]
[ Mystic Amulet ( Epic ):
Description: An ancient amulet that vibrates with arcane energy. It enhances the wearer's natural abilities, providing a boost to physical strength, agility, and mental acuity.
Current Price: 100 Zombie Cores ( Before: 1,000 Zombie Cores )
Quantity: 1/1 ]
Needless to say, Shane purchased this Amulet…
After this, he also bought the other items in the store like the Healing Salve, Night Vision Goggles, Zombie Lure, Random Mutant Vegetable Seeds, the Radiation Resistant Gloves, and finally, the Reinforced Barricade.
After that, Shane turned his attention to the Drone and pulled it out of his Inventory.
'Let's see what you can do…'
Shane muttered as he looked at the Tactical Combat Drone.
The Drone, sleek and menacing, lay inert on the table. Its matte black exterior was punctuated by red scanning lights that blinked to life as Shane activated it.
'This is pretty cool…'
"Cloud, is there a chance that you can help me control this thing?"
[ I can scan and analyze it to see how it works and provide you guidelines on how it works. However, taking control of this device will be difficult unless I can connect to it. ]
"Oh? Can you not connect to it? Do I have to do something?" Shane asked curiously. With the knowledge he obtained from the Memory Sphere, he had a rough idea of what Cloud could do, so he asked the A.I.
[ The wristwatch where I am now can be connected to the controller's charging port with a cable. It has to be done this way since the drone model is too old. ]
"Got it… However, let me try it manually for now." Shane replied as he looked at the small-caliber gun attached to its underbelly. It was already a marvel of engineering for him. Shane couldn't help but appreciate how compact yet deadly it was.
With a hum, the Drone lifted off, its camera swiveling to survey its surroundings.
Shane piloted the Drone through the room, getting a feel for its controls.
It responded with precision, darting from corner to corner, its camera feeding real-time images to Shane's handheld monitor.
'This is pretty cool…' Shane muttered as he felt quite comfortable controlling it. Perhaps it was thanks to his various skills related to computers.
Satisfied with its performance, he landed the Drone, its mission within the room complete—for now.
"This is good for scouting that area above the waterfalls." Shane muttered as he felt that the area above would have surprises he needed to discover.
Next, Shane picked up the Mystic Amulet that was worth 1,000 Zombie Cores!
Although he only purchased it for 100, it doesn't mean that its value was lowered.
"This looks good…" Shane muttered as seeing the item. He was expecting a large amulet with a bad design. However, seeing it now made him really a fan of it.
It was a thing of beauty: a circular pendant of deep emerald, set in a lace of silver that seemed to pulse with an inner light. It felt magical!
There were also engravings etched along its edge and as Shane clasped it around his neck, a warm sensation spread through him.
His senses sharpened, his muscles tensed with newfound vigor, and his mind cleared as if fog had been lifted.
"Wow… This feels really great…" Shane commented on the sensation he felt as soon as he wore it.
He felt the amulet's power coursing through him, enhancing his natural abilities.
Shane flexed his fingers, feeling the strength that flowed within. He knew that with this amulet, his chances of survival—and victory—had just increased exponentially.
With a nod of approval at his reflection, Shane tucked the amulet under his shirt, its presence was now a secret wellspring of power. He could not let anyone know about this.
The day had been long, but these new tools rekindled his excitement.
Tomorrow, he would test them in the field, against the undead hordes that awaited.
For now, he allowed himself a moment of rest…
'Ahh… Right! It's not time to rest yet.' Shane muttered as he recalled that he still had something to do.
He would be away for eight hours, so he decided to visit Anna to give the Toxic Flesh Shard to her to experiment on. He also informed her about its purpose, but she actually knew about it already thanks to the alchemist skill she had obtained.
After settling this, Shane then visited Leo in the smithy…
There, he gave him the ingots he looted!
After doing all of this, Shane decided to visit the Fairy Realm to meet his lovely pets and, perhaps, plant some seeds!
