Chapter 1347: The Day of Blood Sacrifice
Chapter 1347: The Day of Blood Sacrifice
Celebi wobbled as it flew up from Yuga's arms, heading to his forehead and pressing its own against his.
For a brief moment, Yuga felt dizzy, but soon, a series of vivid images rapidly flashed through his mind.
In the scenes, Marshadow was seen leading a group of people running swiftly in a corner of the Guli Mountain Range. Yuga immediately recognized the uniformed individuals—they were members of Team Radiance.
The connection between Marshadow and Team Radiance took Yuga by surprise. Team Radiance truly seemed like a lingering specter! Yet, something puzzled him deeply. Team Radiance had emerged after the demise of Team Aqua and Team Magma and was supposed to be a fledgling organization. Logically, they shouldn't have much foundation to work with, but their repeated large-scale operations were anything but amateur.
Moreover, for such a newly established group to control Marshadow? That was simply unbelievable. Not everyone had the capabilities of a Giovanni.
Additionally, Yuga saw the presence of the three Legendary giants in the images and was shocked to discover they had gone missing due to being controlled by Marshadow.
Although he had suspected as much before, seeing it confirmed still left him astonished. The three Regis, like Marshadow, were legendary Pokémon—yet they had been silently subdued. Marshadow's abilities were truly formidable!
As these images unfolded, Yuga couldn't help but recall what Sceptile had mentioned earlier—Marshadow was searching for the temple where Regigigas slumbered.
Now, it seemed like it might have already found it!
"What secrets lie within that temple to make Team Radiance go to such lengths?" Yuga wondered.
Without dwelling further, he quickly sought out Mr. Kaya and informed him, "Mr. Kaya, I've located Marshadow's whereabouts. I must intercept it now. I'll leave the situation here to you. I'll explain everything in detail once I'm back."
"Alright, go ahead. Leave the situations here to me!" Mr. Kaya said sternly. Although he was worried about Yuga venturing out alone, the pressing task of containing the wild Pokémon invasion left him no choice but to stay behind.
Fortunately, Celebi was with Yuga, which gave Mr. Kaya some reassurance.
What Mr. Kaya didn't know, however, was that Celebi, having lost part of its life force, might not currently stand a chance against some of the Level 100 Pokémon accompanying Yuga.
After reporting to Mr. Kaya, Yuga summoned Dragonite, mounted it, and flew in the direction indicated by Celebi. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
As long as they were in the forest, plants acted as the best surveillance network. With Celebi's guidance, Yuga could pinpoint Marshadow's exact location.
However, plants' memories were limited, and the fragments stored within their bodies were short-lived. Otherwise, Celebi wouldn't have failed to find information about the Regis leaving last time.
Clearly, the control of the Regis wasn't a recent event.
Meanwhile, Marshadow, along with the three Regis and over twenty Team Radiance members, was swiftly moving through the forest. However, neither Gus nor the young man leading their group was present—they had been left behind at the base to oversee operations.
This was Marshadow's deliberate decision, as it worried those two might oppose certain actions if they were involved.
Time passed as they traveled, and eventually, Marshadow's group arrived at the base of a barren mountain. The mountain was sparsely covered in vegetation, its land evidently infertile, making it an unremarkable feature in the vast Guli Mountain Range.
"Marshadow~"
At Marshadow's command, the group began ascending the mountain. When they reached the summit, they were greeted by an area littered with rubble and stones.
"Marshadow~"
With a wave of Marshadow's hand, the Team Radiance members began clearing the debris.
After an indeterminate amount of time, the summit was cleared of all rubble, revealing a flat expanse engraved with a massive and intricate design. The patterns were complex and bizarre, resembling some kind of magical formation.
At this moment, a figure resembling a squad leader within Team Radiance approached Marshadow respectfully and asked, "Marshadow, what should we do next?"
In truth, these lower-ranking members of Team Radiance had no idea about the true objective of this operation. They had received only one instruction: follow Marshadow's orders.
Hearing the question, Marshadow cast a peculiar glance at the squad leader, then issued a muffled and indistinct murmur. The squad leader barely caught the sound.
Of course, that sentence wasn't meant for the squad leader.
In the next instant, a Hypno appeared beside Marshadow in a flash, and then a massive Sandslash burst out of the ground.
Both Pokémon had vacant, lifeless eyes, clearly under Marshadow's control.
After relinquishing its psychic control over the Houndoom and Arbok, Marshadow had sought out these two Pokémon in the wild. With the combined might of the three Legendary giants, it forcibly subdued them.
As for the other Pokémon within these two Pokémon's territories, they had all been driven deep into the Guli Mountain Range by the Legendary giants.
The sudden appearance of the two Pokémon startled the squad leader, but he quickly realized he couldn't move. It wasn't just him; the other Team Radiance members were also immobilized.
"Marshadow, what are you doing?" the squad leader asked, his voice trembling as he caught Marshadow's eerie gaze. A profound sense of dread began to creep over him.
Marshadow didn't respond. With a mere wave of its hand, Sandslash lunged at the squad leader, its sharp claws slicing across his neck. Blood gushed out in an instant.
"Marsha...dow..." The squad leader couldn't finish his sentence before collapsing lifelessly.
The other Team Radiance members were paralyzed with fear at the sight. This wasn't part of the plan!
Marshadow, please don't!"
"Marshadow, you can't do this!"
...
The terrified members begged for mercy, but their pleas fell on deaf ears. Hypno had them completely immobilized, leaving them unable to escape. Some of the more timid ones were so frightened that they wet themselves.
But Marshadow paid no heed to their cries. With another wave of its hand, Sandslash darted among the group, its razor-sharp claws flashing. In no time, over twenty members of Team Radiance lay dead, torn apart by Sandslash's savage strikes.
This was precisely why Marshadow hadn't brought Gus or the young man along. If they had known it planned to use Glimmer Team members as a blood sacrifice, they would have never agreed.
Marshadow couldn't afford to alienate them now.
As for what to tell them later? It would simply claim that these people had been killed by the Pioneer Corps.
Initially, Marshadow had intended to use members of the Pioneer Corps for the blood ritual. However, after Sceptile's escape thwarted those plans, it had no choice but to use Team Radiance as substitutes. At this point, there wasn't enough time to capture other victims.
One by one, the bodies fell to the ground, their blood seeping into the engraved design. The liquid flowed along the intricate lines of the formation, gradually pooling and spreading. Before long, the entire design was dyed a deep, blood-red hue.
When the blood completely filled the pattern, the intricate carvings on the ground suddenly erupted with a strange crimson radiance, a light that shot straight into the sky. The impact of the radiance created ripples in the heavens as if the very fabric of the sky was trembling.
Seeing this, a faint smile finally appeared on Marshadow's cold, indifferent face.
It turned out that Regigigas's resting place was located within an interdimensional space above this desolate mountain. The temple Marshadow sought was hidden in that space.
This explained why no one else had been able to locate the temple or Regigigas's resting place. Marshadow alone knew its location due to its peculiar connection with the temple.
The ripples in the sky marked the entrance to the interdimensional space.
Just as Marshadow prepared to leap into the ripples with the three Legendary giants, a Thunderbolt descended from the sky, cutting off its path.
Marshadow looked up, only to see a human riding a Dragonite in the air, accompanied by Celebi, Gardevoir, Mismagius, and other Pokémon.
The person who arrived just in time was Yuga.
Yuga gazed down at the scene of blood-soaked stones, his brow furrowing deeply. He hadn't expected Marshadow to resort to a blood sacrifice.
A temple that required a blood sacrifice to open could only contain something dangerous. Yuga knew he couldn't let Marshadow enter.
Although Yuga didn't know what lay inside the temple, if an unscrupulous Pokémon like Marshadow gained control of it, it might unleash a disaster.
The Pokémon world had seen its share of calamities caused by Legendary Pokémon.
Marshadow, unfamiliar with Yuga, felt a mix of suspicion and uncertainty when faced with this unexpected interruption.
Cautiously, Marshadow retreated slightly with the three Legendary giants, while directing Hypno and Sandslash to step forward and confront Yuga. It could sense that the Pokémon around Yuga were strong, especially the presence of the Forest Guardian, Celebi, which made Marshadow particularly wary.
The memory of Celebi teaming up with that Gardevoir to repel Houndoom was still fresh in its mind. Clearly, that Gardevoir was no ordinary Pokémon.
Marshadow was willing to sacrifice Hypno and Sandslash, as they were merely puppets. Its priority now was entering the temple.
Despite Marshadow's subtle movements, Yuga noticed and immediately released several more Pokémon from their Poké Balls, including Ninetales and some Champion-level Pokémon.
Using his Insight ability, Yuga assessed the data of Hypno and Sandslash and found that both were Master-level Pokémon. He then instructed Dusknoir, Florges, Absol, Chimecho, Charizard, and Lapras, "Take care of Hypno and Sandslash!"
Dusknoir nodded and descended from the air, facing Hypno one-on-one, while Florges and the others teamed up to confront Sandslash.
Dusknoir vanished in a flash and reappeared beside Hypno, delivering a Shadow Punch. Hypno's eyes glowed purple as it conjured a transparent barrier to block the attack.
As Dusknoir prepared to strike again, Hypno vanished from its original position.
Meanwhile, Sandslash, surrounded by Florges and the others, launched an attack. It swung its powerful claws, aiming for Absol, who was closest. However, Chimecho used its Gravity ability to pin Sandslash down.
The power disparity between Chimecho and Sandslash, however, was too great, and it couldn't hold Sandslash for long. Absol seized the opportunity to Mega Evolve and countered Sandslash's claws with a Dark Strike.
Facing a Master-level Pokémon like Sandslash, Absol had to go all out right from the start!
The claws of the two Pokémon collided, and the super-evolved Absol was flung away.
However, Sandslash, too, was forced back several steps by the terrifying strength of the super Absol. Just as it stabilized itself, it was suddenly bound in place by vines emerging from the ground.
This time, the attackers were Florges and Venusaur. Venusaur controlled the vines while Florges strengthened them. The dark green vines shimmered with a faint green glow, pulsating as if imbued with life.
Due to its unique innate talent and divine nature, Florges had a bond with Venusaur resembling that of a subordinate and a leader.
Florges's species ability was to cultivate flowers and plants, endowing them with special powers. This ability, influenced and enhanced by its Legendary Aura, extended its effects to Grass-type Pokémon as well.
Not only Venusaur, but Yuga's other Grass-type Pokémon shared a similar relationship with Florges.
Florges's ability to awaken the Grassy Terrain ability in some Grass-type Pokémon was a direct manifestation of this unique talent.
This extraordinary connection between Florges and Grass-type Pokémon became more pronounced as its Legendary Aura gradually awakened. Previously faint, the bond fully manifested following a recent extraordinary encounter shared with Yuga. Unbeknownst to Yuga, this transformation had already occurred.
If it were Florges's vines alone, Sandslash might have been able to break free. However, the combined power of Florges and Venusaur imbued the vines with a mysterious force, rendering them unbreakable no matter how much Sandslash struggled!
With Sandslash tightly restrained by the vines, Charizard's Flamethrower, Lapras's Ice Beam, and Vivillon's Signal Beam bombarded it simultaneously.
Meanwhile, Marshadow, who was attempting to flee, found its path blocked by Yuga, who had brought Ninetales, Gardevoir (Nana), and Celebi.
Realizing escape was no longer an option, Marshadow was left with no choice but to command the three Regis to engage.
Faced with the three Regis and Marshadow, Yuga couldn't help but feel tense. Three against four – the situation was not in his favor!
"Marshadow~"
Human, leave this place!
As the Pokémon on both sides prepared for battle, Marshadow didn't attack immediately. Instead, it tried to persuade Yuga. Observing Yuga assigning tasks to his Pokémon earlier, Marshadow had deduced that Yuga could communicate with them.
Yuga, unsure of victory over Marshadow, replied, "I can leave, but you must leave too! You cannot enter the place where Regigigas slumbers."
"Marshadow~"
Impossible!
Upon hearing Yuga's words, Marshadow's aura changed drastically. It let out a piercing cry that caused Yuga's very soul to tremble.
The sound was all-encompassing. Even covering his ears couldn't block its invasive nature.
Under the influence of the sound, even the movements of Sandslash and Hypno, both controlled by Marshadow, faltered slightly. However, Yuga's Pokémon were also momentarily dazed by the cry, missing an opportunity to attack.
When the sound ceased, Yuga looked at Marshadow and declared, "Since you refuse to leave, I will not leave either!"
"Marshadow~"
Hearing Yuga's response, Marshadow ceased its attempts at persuasion. It clenched its fists tightly and let out a long howl. The colors of its body began to shift dramatically, with parts of its head and neck turning from black to dark green. Its aura became even more terrifying.
Yuga recalled encountering a Marshadow in Mount Tensei, but it was nowhere near the power of the one before him. The difference wasn't just marginal – it was worlds apart.
What do you think?
