Chapter 605: Chapter 605 - I am the Wrath Champion
As Constantine made his way back to Valantar City, his carriage abruptly halted at his command. He had just received word of the defeat of several members of the Valantar Guilds Alliance in the assault on Slumdon Town.
Frustration etched across his face, he stepped out of the carriage.
"They were beaten... by a handful of knights?" he muttered. "Could they truly be so incompetent?"
One of his companions approached him. "Constantine, should we assist with the assault directly?"
Constantine's eyes narrowed, his expression darkening as he assessed the situation.
"I think we'll have to take matters into our own hands. If this attack fails again, the entire plan will collapse, and I won't allow that to happen. I don't think we can let this slide any longer. Those stupid alliances have proven to be completely useless."
His companions nodded, sensing the weight of his anger.
Everyone knew that the Valantar Guilds Alliance was responsible for the large-scale assault on Slumdon Town. As a result, any retaliation by the Vensalor Guild would typically target Valantar.
Therefore, even if Constantine chose to get involved, he could still protect his reputation.
As Constantine gazed toward Slumdon Town, he noticed a figure approaching in the distance. Narrowing his eyes to get a clearer view, he took in the eerie sight.
It was someone cloaked in a black robe that seemed to absorb the light around it. They carried a massive scythe that gleamed even in the dim light.
"What the hell is that?" Constantine hissed. "Some idiot cosplaying as a grim reaper?"
Constantine and his group stood still, waiting as the grim reaper-like figure drew closer, eventually stopping right in front of him.
"Out for a little midnight stroll?" Constantine asked, a thin smile playing on his lips.
Suddenly, the ground behind the grim reaper figure began to shift. From the earth, a massive black cat emerged, its sheer size dwarfing the figure-standing at least four times taller.
As if that wasn't terrifying enough, another form materialized from the shadows: a wolf shrouded in swirling darkness, its presence just as menacing as the cat's.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Constantine's throat tightened as he swallowed nervously.
This wasn't just any player. This was something far more dangerous.
"They look... pretty intimidating," one of his guildmates muttered.
"Is that who defeated the Valantar Alliance?" another asked.
"A player with a censored name, and a weird beast."
"We should get out of here!"
"Log out! Just log out right now!"
"We can't! We're already in battle mode!"
Constantine forced himself to remain calm and composed. There's nothing to fear, he reassured himself. He was confident in his capabilities, but he wasn't the type to charge into a battle unless he was sure of victory.
This person might have been connected with Slumdon Town, potentially an ally of Broken or someone closely aligned with the town's defense.
Yet, there was also the chance that this figure had no ties to Broken at all. They could simply be a wandering player who had stumbled upon the attack and decided to intervene out of annoyance or principle.
His mind raced as he assessed his situations. After all, he and his guildmates had only been passing near Slumdon Town-they hadn't directly participated in the assault. Surely, there was a way to use that to his advantage.
Constantine's grip tightened on his weapon as he weighed his next move.
"Good evening, Mr. Grim Reaper," Constantine murmured, with a faint and calm smile. Constantine studied the figure before him. If this Grim Reaper wasn't affiliated with any guild, it could present a rare and valuable opportunity. Recruiting someone with two beasts as threatening as these would be a significant asset.
His mind whirred as he considered the possibilities. The perks and riches he could offer from his guild might be more than enough to sway even the most independent player.
After all, who could resist the allure of privilege and wealth in Immortal Legacy?
But before he could speak further, the Grim Reaper's cold, resonant voice cut through the night. "What are you doing here, in the middle of the night, so close to Slumdon Town?" Constantine's composure faltered for just a moment before he regained his calm demeanor. He chuckled softly, "Merely passing through. It seems we've had the misfortune of being mistaken for troublemakers. Surely you can see there's been a misunderstanding, yes?" The Grim Reaper stood silent.
Constantine stepped forward with deliberate calm. "Well... I'm Constantine," he began smoothly.
He gestured slightly as he continued, "By chance, or perhaps by destiny, I have been blessed with extraordinary power. You see, I am one of the Divine Champions: the Champion of Wrath. That is who I am."
Constantine paused, before adding with a faint smirk, "You may not have heard of me before. My reputation is mostly within the Kesseon Kingdom, where I am quite well-known. Though it seems my fame hasn't reached this region yet."
Now, he mused to himself, am I leaving you in awe after disclosing my identity?
What kind of player doesn't react to the presence of a Divine Champion?
"My guild and I happened to be traveling near this area when we heard reports of a major disturbance in this tiny town. It was quite... concerning," he said.
He gestured vaguely toward Slumdon Town and continued, "Apparently, certain guilds from Valantar City were planning to cause destruction here. A truly alarming situation, don't you think?"
Turning back to the Grim Reaper, he continued, "Let me ask you this: are you part of those reckless guilds? Do you also intend to devastate this small town?"
He paused, staring intently at the cloaked figure, searching for any reaction. The Grim Reaper remained silent.
This stupid Grim Reaper guy... I've put in so much effort to get his attention. He better be useful to me and not as brainless as Lucy and her ridiculous alliance.
As Constantine shifted his focus, he discreetly glanced at the live streaming from the Valantar Guilds Alliance. His expression soured as he watched the events unfold on the screen.
His gaze sharpened as the live stream panned to a massive wolf tearing through Lucy's forces. His heart sank as he realized the connection-the same imposing wolf stood before him now. This guy was the reason Lucy's alliance had failed so miserably.
