Chapter 604: Chapter 604 - It’s just a single Faebeast
Igor commanded a well-rounded team: a shielder, short-range attacker, long-range attacker, mage, and support. Knowing they were outnumbered, Igor had prepared and refined multiple strategies over the years for battles just like this.
"Stay in the formation we practiced, and attack!" Igor commanded as he rushed toward the enemy.
The opposing players roared, "Surround them and take them all out!"
Igor, a master swordsman with an A-rating in Sword Mastery, took swift control of the battle. His movements were calculated and precise.
Behind him, Damir unleashed powerful magic attacks, providing vital support from the rear.
Ingrid darted through the fray with dual swords, her high agility stats allowing her to parry and counterattack with extraordinary finesse.
The team followed Igor's lead with flawless coordination, executing their strategy with precision. Long-range attackers unleashed a steady barrage of projectiles. Meanwhile, the support role ensured the team's safety, providing vital buffs and maintaining a protective shield aura that strengthened their defenses.
"Be on your guard!" one player barked. "Don't let any of us fall! We outnumber them, act smart!"
Despite having the team with the lowest potential compared to Orion, Elowen, or Mira, Igor remained undeterred. He struck down another opponent with fierce resolve, "I am committed to developing my team to its fullest potential!"
Elsewhere, Karl was double-checking, he turned to Orion, "What's our strategy?"
Orion responded with a sinister grin. "Strategy? Only the weak need strategy! All I care about is that you kill as many of them as possible, that's all that matters."
Karl frowned. "I don't think you deserve to be a Knight Commander, Orion!"
Orion's smirk deepened. "Then take it up with our Lord, who appointed me as your commander."
"I'll take your place later!" Karl declared.
Anna, gripping her greatsword, stepped between them. "Can we save this bickering for later? We have opponents to face. And let's be honest, we're all just trying to see who can rack up the highest kill count, aren't we?"
As the battle began, viewers watching the live streams voiced their shock and doubts in the chat.
"The number of knights is so small!"
"Yeah, there are only two groups trying to defend the town, while the Valantar Alliance is attacking from almost five different directions at once."
"They have no hope!"
"The knights' efforts will be in vain. We already know how this will end."
"I think Orion and his team have potential, but their numbers are too few. Even though Orion
is strong, there are just too many players attacking, and they're coming from all over the
place."
"Igor's team is fighting with skill and strategy. He clearly has the potential to be a great Knight Commander, but... I fear tonight might be his last stand."
"Damn, didn't anyone alert Broken about what's happening?"
The Valantar Guilds Alliance's assault was more devastating than anyone had anticipated. Squads spread out across Slumdon Town, with two groups successfully breaching the city walls and surging toward the town center.
Panic consumed the residents as they fled their homes, their screams echoing throughout the streets.
"Run for your lives! Save your families!" voices shouted in distress as people scrambled for safety.
"Destroy their houses!" one of the attackers bellowed, as chaos erupted around them.
Knights stationed inside the town rushed to confront the invading players, but they were hopelessly outnumbered and outmatched. Despite their efforts, the attackers' sheer strength and numbers overwhelmed them.
"Head to the city center!" one of the attackers ordered. "We must destroy the town hall, their farmland, and everything else Broken and his allies have worked so hard to build."
From the fleeing townsfolk, anguished cries filled the air:
"Our Baron will repay you for this... You are truly heartless!"
"Please, help me find my child... someone save my child!"
"Head downtown quickly, join forces with the others, find somewhere safe to hide!"
"Where are the knights when we need them? Where is our Baron?"
The town was gripped by fear and chaos, the attackers growing bolder with every moment. Meanwhile, Lucy's squad, stationed closer to the inner city, appeared hesitant to advance. "Do you think we should also kill the townspeople?" Lucy asked, glancing toward the camera. "It would be so easy, wouldn't it? But honestly, I don't think it's necessary. Do you?" She continued, "Our goal is to show the Vensalor Guild that they're not invincible, that they have vulnerabilities. All we need to do is destroy this town and let the people evacuate."
"I will not harm the townspeople," she declared firmly. "We will only engage the knights who resist us. Our mission is to confront the Vensalor Guild, not to commit senseless massacres." "Alright, everyone," she said with a confident smile. "There's no reason to delay any further. Let's move forward and enter the inner part of the town. It's time to bring this small town to its knees."
As they approached the inner part of Slumdon Town, their march came to an abrupt halt. From a distance, they saw a large figure moving toward them, its body engulfed in flames that flickered in the darkness of the night.
"What on earth is that? A monster?"
"It's a wolf!"
"Wait... is that... a Faebeast?"
Lucy squinted at the flaming figure, a recognition sparking in her mind. "Could it be?" she
wondered. "Is that the same wolf Princess Alora's knights fought before?"
She shook her head in disbelief. "No way. That wolf was killed, wasn't it?"
"Who cares? Kill that thing!" another player yelled, raising their weapon. "It's just a single Faebeast!"
It happened so quickly-
Lucy was left in stunned silence as she watched the enormous wolf tear through her guildmates with terrifying efficiency. In mere moments, their lives were ended, leaving her
the sole survivor.
Her eyes widened in horror as she stared at the towering beast before her. She trembled, her voice shaky as she tried to comprehend the situation.
"I... I had no idea something so powerful was protecting Slumdon Town... Even when Broken and the others aren't here," she murmured. "Why is it that every time I try, I fail? I just wanted to fight for my own success..."
She fell to her knees, her face pale with terror. "Please, let me live," Lucy begged. "If I die, I'll lose even more than I've already lost. Please, don't take my life."
Fang gazed down at her. Without a word, he raised his massive paw and brought it crashing down. In an instant, Lucy's figure exploded into pixels, vanishing into the night.
"They're too weak," Fang muttered.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Without pausing, the massive wolf turned and sprinted back toward the heart of the town, ready to deal with the remaining invaders who dared to threaten Slumdon Town. "Cedric said they didn't need my help to handle this attack... but would Lord Broken mind if I took action anyway?" Fang mused to himself.
"He did say to come to Slumdon if I thought the town needed assistance."
The number of enemies flooding into the town continued to grow, far outpacing the limited number of knights defending it. Fang knew the situation was becoming dire-there was no other option. If he didn't act now, more lives would be lost, and the town could be overrun.
