Chapter 63 What I would do for a normal life
Xander immediately raised his arm in defence but before the leg could reach him a hand grabbed it from the side, stopping it from reaching his arms.
Xander looked at who caught the hand to see a mature man with black hair reaching just below his shoulders, his pupils were red and radiated both coldness and calmness.
Xander looked at his dad who just used that his arm to toss the Japanese looking guy to another side.
"Dad?" Xander mumbled as he moved closer to his father.
"I'm glad you're back. I owe you and your mother–"
"Just shut up old man," Xander said as he hugged his dad. Both of them were almost the same height with his dad being more taller.
"You've grown so much. What happened to your eyes?" His father asked as he released Xander from the hug.
Meanwhile Xander was confused as he looked at his father's eyes.
"My eyes? Nothing's wrong with them."
His dad smiled as he looked at Xander from head to toe. Xander felt chills from that gaze, it was as if he was naked.
"Where is it?" His dad asked, making Xander confused.
"Where's what?"
"Your insignia, it will explain why the colour of your eyes changed," Xander's dad said as if it was something that Xander should naturally know.
The colour of Xander's pupils, that's what he was referring to which changed when Xander unlocked his full potential.
"Don't know where it is," Xander said with a shrug and turned to look at his friends who were laying on the floor unconscious.
"Friends of yours?"
"Yeah," Xander replied and his dad just signaled some people that weren't far to take Harry and the others away.
"Where are they taking them?" Xander asked as he saw the people carrying his friends into a door.
"To an infirmary. They can rest there," Xander's dad, Ciel said and walked away towards another section.
Xander looked back to where that guy with a scar was thrown and didn't see him there. He looked all over the place but could not find this strong man, it was as if he vanished like a ghost, leaving no trail.
Xander turned and immediately followed him while asking a series of questions. "Why are they all wearing red?" Xander asked as he looked at every worker there in red lab coats, red uniforms, red everything.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Well. The ones wearing red are helpers. Scientists, engineers and others."
Xander nodded as he walked beside his dad. He was soon taken to a room which was at the end of the hall. The door was made of aluminum with an automatic sensor key.
"Home sweet home." Ciel gestured for Xander to enter as he waved his hand in front of the door, causing it to open.
Xander entered with a smile and his smile faded when he saw that the room was empty. It wasn't empty at all, I mean... it has a big comfy-looking bed with a TV and even a gaming chair.
The room was void of a person... his mom.
"Where's mom?"
Ciel turned away from Xander and looked at the floor as he sighed tiredly. His facial expression said it all but Xander didn't want to jump to conclusions.
"Where... is mom?" Xander turned to his dad with furrowed brows as he asked again.
"Your mom is still missing. It's been four months now–"
"Four months?!" Xander exclaimed as he began to fear for his mom. That fragile woman who doesn't know how to defend herself was kidnapped and it had been four months!!
"Do you know where their hideout is?" Xander asked in a deep tone, his voice seemed to reverberate as if multiple people were talking. His eyes shone in a bright red colour as he stood up and looked at his dad.
Ciel however, had a calm expression on his face. This probably wasn't the first time he saw someone with an arcana.
"If I knew where their base is all the problems would be over."
Xander closed his eyes and began to calm himself down as he thought about the worst possible situation.
'She could be deeee... deeee...' He couldn't even say the words as he refused to believe it. Nothing is concluded.
"Get some rest. Your friends are in the room at the other side of the hall. The bathroom is by your left. I'll send Yukimura to give you tour later," Xander's dad said and turned around to leave.
"Wait. What will you be doing?"
Ciel looked at Xander again before replying, "We don't have any leads on the ghoulshippers base of operations. We just have to keep sweeping suspected areas, because I can't sit still when I know that my wife might be in danger."
Xander nodded and as his dad wanted to leave when he called him again. "Dad!"
"I'm sorry for acting that way when you came back. And also for not believing you," Xander said with his head down.
"Don't worry. I wouldn't believe me too."
After that conversation Xander finally looked around the room. There was a big fluffy white bed with a wardrobe.
Xander opened the wardrobe to see casual wear inside and his eyes immediately went to a black suit with golden linen used to make beautiful patterns on it.
"Now that's what I call a stylish suit."
Xander went into the shower and then turned it on. As the cold water graced his skin he couldn't help but let out a whimper.
He fell into deep thought as the echoing sound of water droplets hitting the ground drowned all other sounds in the background.
'Mom is out there somewhere. I don't know why I'm only thinking about bad things that could happen to her, good things too can happen. Right?' He tried to encourage himself.
'And what was that thing I felt. I'm still feeling it now. It's like I'm about to explode.' Xander thought as he held his muscular chest.
It was as if his back was burning on fire when that happened but the intensity reduced as he calmed himself.
'What I would do to have a normal family right now.' Xander thought painfully.
He had a normal family before but he didn't cherish it and he missed it so much. The life when your dad wouldn't say he's superman and that you're going to become superboy.
A normal life when you will wake up and go to school and then come back and play games. What he would do for a normal life.
Xander washed and came out from the bathroom feeling like the cleanest person in the world.
The fan accentuated the cold feeling on his body and he shivered but didn't turn it off.
He couldn't help but stare at himself in the mirror. He was never the type of person that would bother about their looks but damn.
"Is that me? What happened to my eyes?" Xander mumbled as he looked at his pupils that were crimson in colour. He clearly remembered that he had blue eyes.
"And my body."
Xander looked at his lean but built body. He then began wondering if it was his 'Exercises'... no, rather, 'Suffering' in that cave that changed him so much. He even got taller now and his hair had a shine to it even while messy.
'I really hope things return back to normal soon.' Xander thought as he looked at the suit in the wardrobe.
He immediately put it on and looked at himself in the mirror. His hair was a bit dishelved so he took a comb which coincidentally was on a table closeby to arrange his hair.
'Well. I'm definitely not returning this suit.' Xander thought as he looked at himself for some time.
He picked up his phone and began researching about strange locations. Since the Terrox organization was so hidden then ghoulshippers base should be too.
He began to see how various areas in cities have been destroyed by returnees and how the world is coping with it. These returnees spending their life stones are literally living their last days on earth. Most would be afraid of what will happen when they can no longer acquire life stones.
Xander still didn't know if there was a way to stop the game entirely. It can't even be called a game. They need to stop whatever magic they use and the only way is to find their base and there is no way to do that right now without any lead whatsoever.
Xander sighed as he has been scrolling all the latest news for a while and he ended up with no clue at all.
*Click‐!*
The door opened and Xander raised his head to see the tall man with a scar from before. The man furrowed his brows as he saw Xander in that suit and just sighed.

"Well. Xander, I'm Mr Yukimura. I'm here to give you a tour of the under-base.," Yukimura said in a polite tone, opposite of how he was when Xander and his friends came.
"Ok," Xander said and quietly followed him out of the room.
What do you think?
