Chapter 180 Crowning Ceremony
Once Lei Zhen ordered the carriage driver to hasten its speed, he was able to arrive at his office in the Royal Castle to change into some formal clothes.
And apparently, it seemed like Kate also knew about his bad taste in outfits since she already assigned some maids to prepare the formal clothes for him.
Putting the new clothes on and glancing at the mirror, Lei Zhen could tell his charisma value had risen sharply.
'I do look kind of handsome and attractive.' He thought to himself, feeling a bit narcissistic to be in such fancy clothes as he glanced at his reflection in the mirror.
It was a good thing that he was alone in the room. Otherwise, people might be afraid that an imposter had impersonated the Chancellor.
Making a final fix on his clothes, Lei Zhen headed out where Howard and the other guards were already waiting for him.
"Over here, Chancellor." One of the guards extended his hand toward a side and said.
"Hmm, aren't I supposed to go to the waiting hall?" Lei Zhen raised an eyebrow.
"Those are for the diplomats and other nobles to wait. The Chancellor might have resigned from his position but that doesn't nullify your achievement. You are to be seated in the VIP section." The guard calmly explained in a respectful tone.
"I see…" Lei Zhen nodded his head and followed the guard. At that same time, Howard was quietly following behind, not making a single sound.
Sometime later, the guard brought Lei Zhen to a private room in which Francis, Kate, and Robert Knightman were already discussing things.
"You're finally here," Kate clasped her hands and smiled brightly. She was wearing a long dress clad in white color and seemed to exude a majestic aura.
"I haven't seen you for a while and you already looked like a true queen." Lei Zhen teased and took off his mask.
The matter regarding Lei Zhen bringing up the topic of human trafficking was brushed aside given that they are both adult and mature people. They wouldn't let such a matter affect them.
Hence, they were still able to act normal and calm toward each other.
"Heh, when I'm crowned as the queen, I shall grant you the privilege to still refer to me as Kate." Kate joked back.
"Then I'll gladly enjoy such a privilege, Kate." Lei Zhen chuckled softly.
After joking with her for a while, Lei Zhen went to greet Francis while whispering to him.
"I suppose you can now rest easy in the bed chamber and not be swamped by documents and politics all day long."
"Real men don't talk about those. You aren't bad either to make my daughter swoon over you wholeheartedly."
pαndα`noνɐ1--сoМ Both of them laughed and pretended to be having a great conversation.
Just a slight jab from Lei Zhen and he was responded fiercely by Francis, who swiftly brought up his daughter to the table.
How could Lei Zhen continue with his teasing?
"Oh right, I've heard that you bought a high elf slave for yourself. Are you sure you can survive?" Robert Knightman suddenly intervened and asked.
"Your intelligence is too frightening, Robert. I would have doubted that you planned on planning a coup." Lei Zhen smiled at him, avoiding his question while pushing a horrible crime to his name.
"You cheeky little brat."
"Why thank you? I didn't expect a compliment from the great Robert Knightman."
"Tsk, you were more amicable when we first met. Now you're just spitting poison at me every time."
Lei Zhen shrugged his shoulders. "What can I say? I tend to repay the favor and gratitude tenfold."
Robert Knightman twitched his mouth and could only take a sip of some wine to cool down. Lei Zhen's words were simply too poisonous for the current him to handle at the moment so he had to drop the topic of the high elf slave as well.
And once he dropped that topic, Lei Zhen also tactfully gave him a leeway and stopped teasing him.
It doesn't go to say that Lei Zhen was enjoying every moment of this to tease and toy with Robert Knightman after all the hellish pain he had gone through thanks to him.
"I won't comment on it anymore, but I'm going to warn you a bit. High elves are currently a tricky topic in the western country so be careful when you plan to sail there." Robert Knightman leaned toward Lei Zhen and whispered, giving him a warning.
Lei Zhen nodded his head. "Rest assured, I'm not gullible enough to become someone's chopping board. If someone dares to make a move, then I'll make sure to lay out a perfect coffin for them."
Before coming here, he had already utilized his own information channel that he previously set up with the permission of Kate to gather intelligence.
And right now, the information channel might have been given to Kate to command, but he still had authority over it. Hence, Lei Zhen knew the problem with the high elves wasn't so simple.
"Well, as long as you know to be careful. The church is also keeping an eye on you, so be on your guard." Robert Knightman gave his final warning and walked away.
Francis also went to Kate and complimented her looks like any normal father would do, leaving Lei Zhen to ponder alone.
His eyes were crystal clear, but deep down, Lei Zhen feared another chapter had begun right as the chapter of Yors Castle was closing.
The crowning ceremony soon began after some chattering and Kate was crowned officially to the public with Francis renouncing his King position for Kate to inherit.
Cheers and clapping instantly erupted in the crowd as multiple diplomats rushed ahead to congratulate Kate as the new queen of Yors Castle.
And as Kate was swamped by the numerous congratulations, Lei Zhen flashed a gentle smile before slowly walking away.
'You have gone a long way, Kate.' He was sincerely proud of Kate's achievement in coming so far from an impulsive princess to someone that everyone admired now.
"Let's go, Howard. Next stop, the sea of Terantia."
