“This is the spot. No more discussion. Seeing your place gets me thinking, what if I bought some land near your estate and built a villa there?” Mr. Humphrey suddenly turned to Finn Lewis and asked.
“I don’t mind at all,” Finn Lewis shrugged his shoulders, then laughed and said, “If you all are interested in that, I can help negotiate. When it’s time to buy, you guys can divide the cost.”
“Haha, that sounds good. We can’t afford to build a place like this ourselves, but living next door and sharing some of the benefits, why not?” The others looked at each other, laughed, and agreed. As for their intentions, Finn Lewis didn’t care.
Regarding the invitation, actually, Finn had not met most of the invitees. Even though Virtual World Corporation might have had business dealings with them, most of the negotiations were handled by the branch CEOs or by Kay Lee. Many of them may know who he is, but they probably have never had a conversation. That said, for an ostentatious wedding like this, the more the merrier. As for how many would actually come, that remained to be seen.
Just less than two weeks before Finn’s wedding, after a regular meeting of the Flame Nation officials, an announcement was published about nationality. Although it might seem that everyone in the world wants to migrate to the North Federation, in reality, it could be argued that Flame Nation is one of the hardest countries to gain citizenship in. For countries like the North Federation, Cana Kingdom, gaining citizenship after receiving a green card, meaning permanent residency, is relatively easy.
When these two people announced their Flame Nation citizenship and renounced their North Federation citizenship, the world was shocked. The two people in question belonged to two of the most powerful financial groups. Although they were not the direct heirs of the Travis Family and the Morgan Family, they were still of considerable status.
Most families do not emphasize a direct line of inheritance; merely bearing the surname of Travis or Morgan suffices. Giving up North Federation citizenship, especially for the wealthy, is a challenging process owing to the inverse policies of the Flame Nation, where renouncing citizenship is easy but gaining it is difficult. And yet, they proceeded to do so anyway.
These two individuals are not unknown entities within the Travis Family or the Morgan Family; even though they’re not the primary inheritors, they have their shares in their respective consortiums. William Rockefeller’s net worth stands at about 12 million Federal coins post-tax, while Cyril Weston’s four million is substantially lower. However, their ages – 28 and 31 respectively – represent the new generation within their families.
There are many theories about their reasons for citizenship change, but undeniably, it isn’t a whimsical decision. However, whether they are genuinely eligible remains uncertain. Nonetheless, the Flame Nation attested that prior to any amendment of the nationality laws, they do meet the requirements due to their long-standing employment in the country.
Despite being one of the inheritors of the ten largest consortiums in the North Federation, they have spent several years living and working in Flame Nation. Furthermore, William Rockefeller even married a Flame Nation woman and had a child with her. In a surprising deviation from the norm, William’s wife and child did not follow him to the North Federation; instead, he joined them in Flame Nation. The reason for this decision, however, remains unknown.
In an interview, Cyril made a statement that left many speechless; upon seeing William’s application for citizenship, he decided to follow suit because the Morgan family cannot lag behind the Travis family. Whether this sentiment reflects the Morgans’ stance or just Cyril’s personal feelings is unknown.
Regardless of the public discussions this stirred, Flame Nation officials neither commented on nor confirmed the matter directly. Not long after, however, everyone understood the reason behind their sudden decision.
About three days into the week, Flame Nation authorities released a new announcement relating to its social welfare system. This announcement left the world in shock; giving rise to significant global reactions.
The reaction was simple. Flame Nation authorities formally announced a significant breakthrough in human genetics by the Flame Nation Academy of Sciences and related medical units. They had finally developed a gene optimization fluid, capable of optimally modifying human genes, and it will be officially implemented after six months.
This gene optimization fluid is officially named ‘Epoch i’, hinting at the beginning of a new era. The most groundbreaking revelation about Epoch i is that it can correct defects in human genes, treat many hereditary diseases, strengthen human immunity, and cure diseases that, until now, were incurable.
Diseases like AIDS, which, to date, is incurable and almost always fatal, can be treated with Epoch i. Additionally, though it doesn’t directly treat most cancers, Epoch i functions similar to treatments for the common cold, which mainly boost the human immune system. Strengthening the human immune system and cells can effectively combat cancer cells.
The strength of Epoch i lies in selectively optimizing human cells while completely disregarding maladaptive cells such as cancer cells growing within the human body.
