The Black Necromancer

Chapter 549: Prophecy

"So the prophecy actually held weight." Mica hummed, his voice deep and heavy.

Elena remained silent, her own eyes dark with worry and her mind abuzz with thoughts. She had known that Leon was fighting an uphill battle. She knew that the chances of winning were slim. But she had thought that he would prevail, like how he always did.

However, she had been presented with a chance to change everything.

As puny as she was.

"I'll do it. Anything to help." Elena responded to the powerful presence in her mind.

"So will I." Mica chimed in, flapping his wings and raising gusts of wind. Thankfully, they were a distance from any settlement, otherwise the massive Dragon's conjured winds might have done some damage.

Thanks to the rewards they had gained from the Mausoleum test, Mica had recently become a Minor God, but Elena remained a mortal. However, because of their connection, it was a lot easier for Mica to descend to the mortal realm and be with his battle partner and companion.

"We must act immediately, then." The Nexus Being's voice rang out once more before the duo were enveloped in a bright red light. They were whisked away in the blink of an eye, leaving away nothing but settling dust.

In the capital of the Cromwell Empire, Darren and Raegan exchanged glances upon witnessing the scene through Darren's Mirror Magic.

Upon seeing Elena and Mica be taken away, they knew that the prophecy they had heard concerning Mica was most likely true. It was especially true in a time where they could no longer feel the connection they had with their father.

"She can bring back Father. I know it." Raegan said with a firm tone, his eyeless gaze heavy. The air in the room was stifling and carried a weight that would crush weaker beings if they were present.

"The Paragon of Undeath is a terrible foe. But if the Nexus Being thinks that the prophecy holds weight, then that means it should mean something. But still, a prophecy is only just that, until it comes to pass." Darren said with a steady tone, placing a hand on his brother's shoulder.

Within the Void, the intense battle between Izeal, the Paragon of Undeath, and the Nexus Being, continued. Izeal attacked relentlessly, making little headway, while the Nexus Being defended, mitigating the effects of Izeal's attacks on reality, while retaliating when it could.

All of a sudden, Izeal froze in place, before his body began to rapidly swell with energy. Just the accumulation of such potent energy caused space to cave in and shatter around Izeal.

A dull hum thrummed within the soundless Void before a beam of destructive purple-black energy that shattered everything in its path shot out of Izeal and right at the Nexus Being, crossing the distance in less than a hundredth of a second.

Not missing a beat, the Nexus Being held out a palm, and a translucent wall of energy materialized, stopping the beam. However, the wall of red energy slowly began to change color as it was increasingly corrupted by the vile energies outputted by Izeal. The space that lied in the path of the beam had long since been eradicated, revealing a darkness that was even blacker than the Void.

If a being fell outside there without a certain level of strength, then death was a sure outcome.

"Hmph!" The Nexus Being grunted and waved its other hand, causing the beam to suddenly disappear, as if falling out of this reality.

"Today is the day you fall, Izeal. I have tolerated you for too long." Suddenly, the Nexus Being paused and spoke to Izeal.

"Hah! You should have taken care of me a long time ago. Now, you are starting to feel scared, huh?" Izeal laughed, but in the next moment, the look on his face changed as he suddenly teleported away from his position.

In that spot, a dark shadow materialized.

"You?!"

The dark shadow lightened up, revealing Elena with her red hair and plump cheeks. Her eyes radiated a dangerous aura that was not lower than the level of Izeal and the Nexus Being!

"HOW?!" Izeal growled, demanding an answer.

"You once asked why I handled things the way I did. Why I was not so heavy handed in the ruling of this universe. This is why. Power corrupts. But it also enlightens. You have been corrupted by the power that you have, Izeal.

That is why you cannot see that not all power is meant to be wielded by one person alone."

The Nexus Being's voice radiated a deep wisdom as it spoke. With each word, the power within Elena's body became more solid and tangible. Beside her, a golden figure materialized, also radiating immense power.

"The prophecy?! Impossible! I thought it was all a farce!" Izeal realized the trap he had fallen for.

"And that has become your undoing." The Nexus Being mocked, sending Izeal into a rage.

Izeal's power erupted and he lashed out with wild attacks, no longer caring about anything. He wanted to win at all cost. There was nothing that he would let stand in his way.

However, in his rage, he failed to see the smirk that spread over the bright face of the Nexus Being. He continued to unleash havoc and destruction on everything around him. Space shattered and time crumbled before his attacks. Entire dead zones that would take millennia to repair on their own formed, devoid of any life, where space and time blended and distorted.

The Nexus Being rushed forward, clashing with Izeal while Elena and Mica remained at the back, flanking and waiting for a moment to strike.

"I will DESTROY YOU!" Izeal cocked his arm back and a spear of darkness formed. He flung it forward and watched as it collided with the shield of the Nexus Being, exploding in a haze of energy and destruction. He used the cover created to teleport to where Elena was, wanting to take out the inexperienced fighter. But the Nexus Being anticipated the move, blocking him and engaging him once again.
