The Blue Eyes

Chapter 84 - THE SECRET HILL

Selena Beischel. She was ready to go to the island, which was alleged to be the secret base of the werewolves. The island was alleged to be her husband's hiding site.

Joseph Beischel. It had been seventeen years since she had not seen the face of the husband she had once loved so much. Did that man's face get any more wrinkles after seventeen years had passed? Was he eating well? What about his diabetes? Was he sleeping well? Ah, that man must be very old now. When he was young, Joseph's face was very similar to Kevin's.

Kevin Beischel. Yesterday, her only son asked her to promise him that she would come back safely, but she only said: "Take care of yourself, Son. I love you," before she ended the call unilaterally. The grey-haired lady cried loudly afterward. Seventeen years had passed, and she finally heard Kevin call her 'mom' again. A real mother, not just a foster mother who took care of him in the orphanage.

Today, her heart was so heavy, but she tried to smile. She smiled beautifully at her image reflected by the mirror in front of her. Currently sitting in front of her dressing table, she tried to make herself as beautiful as possible because she was going to meet her husband today.

She put make-up on her wrinkled face, and she was wearing a beautiful peach-colored dress, the last gift from Joseph before the great war broke out seventeen years ago. She also attached a hairpin to her shoulder-length hair, the first gift from Joseph when they started dating.

Finally, her wrinkled hands opened a drawer on the dresser, then took out a ring box. She opened the velvet box, and immediately the ring inlaid with a blue sapphire greeted her sense of sight. It was her wedding ring with Joseph. It had been seventeen years that the object had been tucked tightly in the velvet box, and finally, the thing made of white gold was looping around her ring finger again today.

Selena smiled as she gazed at how the sapphire sparkled on her wrinkled fingers. She was lucky that the ring still fit on her finger after not being used for a long time.

The sound of knocking on the door of her room made the professor stop smiling. She then moved her wheelchair towards the door, then immediately opened the wooden door. That was when she immediately came face to face with Blue, who was standing in front of her.

The girl was wearing a white t-shirt overlaid with a black shirt that was not buttoned up, and it was paired with jeans. Her hair was tied in a ponytail, she wore a navy blue baseball cap, she wore a pair of white sneakers, and there was a black backpack perched on her back.

That appearance inevitably made Selena frown in confusion. "Where are you going, Blue? Ask the bodyguard to escort you if you want to go out," she kindly advised.

They were currently at the orphanage. Blue had returned to live there after she learned the whole truth, and for the last few days, Selena hadn't allowed her to go anywhere because she was worried about the girl's safety.

"I'll go with you, Professor."

Blue's answer stunned the professor. The girl in front of her was so naive. How could she easily say that?

Selena smiled before she grabbed Blue's hand, gripping it tightly as she said, "You stay here, Blue. Let me finish it all with Joseph."

But, those words didn't immediately make Blue change her mind and be willing to back down. "You asked the army to take you there by seaplane, and you also asked them to leave you alone after arriving on the island. You think I don't know what you are up to?"

After Blue found out the truth, the girl was no longer polite to the lady she had known as the head of the orphanage. She couldn't deny that she was still angry because the lady had cheated on her for seventeen years.

"Listen to me carefully, Blue," the elderly lady spoke again. "Whatever I'm going to do today, it's a form of my responsibility to the world. I've caused the world to fall apart. You don't know how much guilt gnawed at my heart. I want to end it all, and you can't get in my way."

Blue pulled her hand away from Selena's grip and used that hand to wipe the tears that had melted down her cheeks for who knows how long.

"There must be some other way," the girl insisted. "You gave me this power, so I want to do something for you. Apart from the teleportation power, my physique has also become very strong now. I'm sure I can beat Professor Joseph if you bring me there."

Selena still looked up at Blue, who was stubbornly asking to join the very dangerous mission.

The lady finally sighed and said, "Fine if you really want to come, but you have to promise me one thing before we go there." She smiled sincerely at the young girl before she continued, "When we get there, you must obey all of my orders. You understand?"

The blue-eyed girl immediately nodded firmly to agree to the elderly lady's terms. The most important thing for her right now was to follow Selena to the island. She wanted to protect Selena and make sure she came back safely.

The two women of different ages left the orphanage together. They were picked up by a military car which would take them to a helicopter that would fly to the harbor at the Shallop coastal area. After that, they would use a seaplane to the island because Selena wanted to get to the island as soon as possible.

The helicopter trip greatly reduced the time required for them. It only took them half an hour to get to the harbor, and they hurriedly switched to a seaplane.

Taking the helicopter and seaplane was Blue's first experience, and the girl seemed very enthusiastic since earlier. It made Selena smile a little when she saw the girl's innocent attitude.

Travel by seaplane did not take long either. Only half an hour and they had arrived at their destination. Several members of the army helped to move the wheelchair that Selena was in. They carried the wheelchair onto the relatively flat sand, and then the wheels on the object automatically enlarged and had more textures like those used for off-road.

Blue was amazed at the automatic transformation. She secretly admired the professor's brilliant brain, which could even create such an object in her old age.

After Selena and Blue were in a relatively safe place, Selena asked the army members to leave the two of them. There were three members of the army accompanying them, and they were reluctant to leave the two women. But Selena gave them a reassuring smile, and in the end, they hesitantly bid goodbye. The seaplane then flew away from the island.

"I don't know where their base is, but Kris said that there is a hill frequented by his father here. I've been looking for the coordinates of the hill through the map application and have entered the coordinates into my wheelchair. Now it will move automatically, and you just have to follow me. Do you understand, Blue?"

Blue nodded, trying not to be dumbfounded after hearing Selena's explanation of the sophistication of her wheelchair. The girl used to think that there was nothing special about the wheelchair, but her guess was proven wrong today. The wheelchair was a super wheelchair.

The sophisticated thing began to slowly move on the fine beach sand. There were absolutely no difficulties experienced by the professor's artificial object. In fact, it could still move steadily on rocky surfaces. Blue really couldn't stop her admiration as she kept following the device along.

Long enough they walked from the shore. After about an hour of traveling on this fortunately cloudy afternoon, they finally arrived at a hill that was alleged to be the secret base for the werewolves.

Blue's blue eyes stared at the low hill in front of her. It was only a small hill as its height may not be up to 100 meters. At first glance, there was nothing special about the hill. It was only a rocky hill, and some parts of which were overgrown with wild plants.

"Is it really their base, Professor?" Blue asked doubtfully as she glanced around her surrounding.

The professor didn't answer Blue's question right away. Her eyes gazed intently at the seemingly uninhabited hill. There didn't seem to be any signs of life in the place. Earlier when they walked over to the hill, they also saw no sign of werewolves. They only saw a simple wooden house which seemed to be the house that Kris's father used to live in.

A look of disappointment slowly surfaced on the professor's wrinkled face. Were their efforts in vain? Had they made the wrong guess thinking that this place was the secret base of the werewolves? She couldn't meet her husband today?

Selena was about to give up and intended to take Blue back to shore, but the roar coming from the hill in front of them stopped her movement. Both she and Blue were facing the hill with alarm.

Like a scene in a movie, the part of the hill that facing them suddenly opened like a double door. The movement of the boulder that acted as the door even made the ground beneath their feet shaking.

Until finally, two elderly men were seen standing not far from them after the giant stone door opened completely. Both Selena and Blue recognized the two figures. They were Joseph Beischel and Mike Allaband!
