The Rejected Alpha's Vengeance

Chapter 413 We Can't Be Friends

[SICARIO]

"They will be fine either way. Hawi won't leave without Mbali, at least that much we know," Hudhayfah comforted Elodie. He knew this whole thing was new for her, given she was born and bred as a warrior.

Then again, did they all try their best to fill the shoes that they hadn't been ready to take part in at the moment? They needed to adjust and if that meant making the hardest of decisions to keep the peace then they had to be ready to do it.

"So… Drew, huh? Have you told your parents yet?" Hudhayfah asked and Elodie let out an exasperated sigh, she had been hoping that the Drew case would be over before they knew it but then here they were with a blown-up ship.

There was so much history between her and Drew and she hated that her parents were more likely to find this out. It would be a whole different thing and frankly. Elodie had hoped not to get them involved in this.

Then again, how hard could she hide the fact that the man was back in Sicario, on a blown ship, and was crucial to the investigation that was currently ongoing, not to mention the fact that there was a chance he was the clue to this madness?

"They would never let me out if they knew he was here. I bet they would come for me and take me with them to the human lands, but I can't let that happen. I can't abandon Hawi like that.

"She trusted me with the pack and I need to make sure it's alright," Elodie said to Hudhayfah even though it seemed like the man didn't believe her. They all had their reasons but then at the end of the day, they had to figure it out with family, right?

Hudhayfah looked at the kid beside him, wondering what the heck was going on in her head. He knew her better than anyone ever could and he knew that she was trying to hold on for everyone's sake.

It wasn't something she could run away from and maybe thinking that being the alpha was the only way to stay was the best thing that she could manage at this point. It didn't matter how long the time would be, but at least they could hope, right?

"Is that the only reason you don't want to face Drew and the past you both share?" Hudhayfah asked softly. He knew that this was a sensitive topic for Elodie, and that the woman had clearly not even processed it yet.

"What other reason could be there, Hudhayfah? He is part of a past that I don't plan on visiting and I hope the goddess doesn't make this any harder for me than it already is. My life was okay without him and I plan on living it without him," Elodie insisted.

She was trying to make herself believe that she would be alright with the way things had turned out, as if that same man wasn't the reason for a thousand wrong things in her life and the chain reaction that had triggered shit worse than she would accept.

Elodie was trapped in her own cycle of events and she refused to let Free in that cycle again. He had once been part of it and it had taken her sixteen years of her life to move on from what had happened.

It didn't matter that he was right now. She would do whatever was needed and then send him away once it was all over. Oh, how she hoped that she wouldn't ever see him again. But wasn't that just wishful thinking on her end, seeing as she is the Sicario alpha?

"Okay. Just remember if you need me, I am here, not going anywhere alright?" Hudhayfah said and Elodie just nodded. She wanted all of this to be over very soon, but then it wasn't like she had the ability to make it a reality.

Their lives had taken a turn for the worse and were interesting at the same time and she didn't even know if there was ever going to come a day for her to get a breather. Perhaps the day would come when Malika and Hawi came home, but for how long?

How long would it take for that to happen before Elodie gave up everything and tried to live the life she had before? How long before life tries to prove to her once again that she was just everything Drew had triggered?

Oh, Elodie wasn't ready to see Drew again and she knew it. But for the sake of Sicario and for the sake of their fact-finding mission she would hold on. She would be professional, given that was the only way to make thighs work.

"I know, Hudhayfah, I know," Elodie said right as one of the CSI at the ship called out for her. The alpha didn't hesitate to make a run to the crime scene, almost like she was worried Hudhayfah would make her admit things she didn't want to.

They all had pasts and while others had managed to stay in the past, Elodie had her past in the operations building and she couldn't even fucking send him away without it all being suspicious, not to mention he was probably important that's why Hawi sent him over to Sicario.

"What do you find, Olga?" Elodie asked as she looked at the wreckage. The stench of oil and cyanide was still in the air and it tickled her nose. She wanted to ask so many questions but then she had to trust Olga.

After all, Olga was the only one who could give her a comprehensive report of the mess they were seeing at the moment, right? Perhaps patience was something Elodie Kane had to learn, and she needed to master it as soon as possible.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"Traces of black magic. A lot of black magic. It's like this ship and everything in it was made of black magic, which is confusing because such kinds of magic wouldn't have made it through the borders.

"The wards Alpha Hawi setup should have kept the magic away, so it just doesn't make any sense," Olga said to the alpha who was with sign meds before her. Elodie had never been this confused in her life.

She had this intense urge to reach out to Hawi and ask her what the fuck was going on with the ship. But then she couldn't. The ship coming through was the last transmission between Sicario and the Savasci knights who were out there.

There was no way of reaching out or even communicating with Hawi to know what the fuck they had walked into. Perhaps they just had to try their best and figure this out for the sake of everyone, right?

"Yeah, that is impossible. Did you find anything in the ship, on the lower decks?" Elodie asked and Olga looked at her, and then at Hudhayfah who had already caught up with Elodie. It was almost like Olga was scared of something, but then what could it be?

"What is it, Olga?" Elodie asked worriedly.

"I think you are going to have to see this on your own," Olga said as she led the alpha and the healer toward the back of the ship, only for Olga to tell one of the CSI's to pull back the blanket that was clearly covering a body.

"Mbali?"
