Chapter 405 - A Presence
"ROOARRR!"
Aiden's eyes snapped open as he looked around himself quickly, trying to make sense of the situation.
It didn't take too long for him to understand that a multitude of monsters were currently on their way to kill him.
He had no idea what they looked like, but from the sound of their voice and the strength being emitted by it. It looked quite obvious that those monsters were here to play around.
However, while Aiden might have been worried at the beginning. He realized that this was a great opportunity for him.
With all those monsters flocking their way in his direction, it basically meant that he would get experience points from it, and he still remembered that he lacked some experience points to reach Level 50, which he would obtain from the System.
'A level-up? I think that's what the System had called it,' Aiden thought as he couldn't wait to see what that level-up would give him as a result. It had to be something worth considering the trial and everything that he had gone through in such a trial.
"Well, what am I waiting for?" Aiden smirked. "Time to get those sweet experience points."
He flew up on top of a tree as he wanted to see the monsters coming his way. He quickly noticed that they weren't in big numbers. In fact, only three monsters were aiming to kill him in his sleep.
However, this was the perfect scenario for Aiden since he was much better at killing monsters or people one-on-one since he was an assassin at heart.
He looked at the monsters mindlessly advancing toward him and just smiled at how stupid they looked.
'This is going to be much easier than I originally thought.'
Aiden flew on top of the tree in front of him and kept doing that until he arrived over the three monsters.
They looked quite dubious and quite frankly. They didn't totally look like monsters. However, from the way they were acting. It indicated that they were.
'Still, they have a human look to them. But it's like all sort of intelligence they might have has completely disappeared from their mind…'
Aiden pitied them for a quick second before going back to their original self, where he couldn't care less about them.
He grabbed his dagger in his hand and flew down on top of them with the aim of killing the three of them in a single strike.
As he flew down, he took his dagger and created an aura against it, making sure that it would cut everything that it would face.
*Bump* *Bump* *Bump*
And as Aiden landed on the ground. The three monsters had lost their head in an instant. They hadn't even taken into account that Aiden had attacked them.
They had just lost their life…just like that.
A beeping sound resounded in Aiden's mind, followed by a bunch of messages that popped up in front of him.
*Beep!*
[You have killed Lab Experiment #1.]
[You have gained some experience.]
[You have killed Lab Experiment #2.]
[You have gained some experience.]
[You have killed Lab Experiment #3.]
[You have leveled up.]
Aiden smiled as he looked at the last message that popped up. "One level closer to the System upgrade."

But then he slowly started reading the other messages right over it. The names of the monsters he had just killed were quite strange, and the more he looked at them. The more it seemed that he really hadn't killed monsters.
'Lab Experiments? They do that in this world?' Aiden thought.
However, that wasn't the only thing that shocked him right away. There was something much more important.
'Why are there Lab Experiments in the middle of nowhere?' Aiden thought as he analyzed his surroundings, thinking that someone or, even worse, something might be looking at him.
Because the more he thought about it, this had to be orchestrated by someone who had kept an eye on him ever since he had arrived.
Why else would there be three Lab Experiments roaring like mad men while running in his direction when Aiden had made sure to make as little noise as possible?
One thing was sure…this was strange, very strange, and Aiden wanted to find out what was happening right now.
He tried sensing the auras of everything surrounding him, but he felt nothing. From what he could feel at the moment, there was nothing close to him. There were no monsters, there were no humans, there was nothing…nothing at all.
He was all alone in the middle of nowhere, and he would have to find his way out of there to find a city or a sect to help him.
He had known that coming into this world was going to be a gamble, but this was even worse than he had originally thought.
*Swoosh*
A faint noise of someone running through the grass was caught by Aiden as his head snapped in its direction. However, when he did…there was still nothing there.
He tried sensing his surroundings, but there was still nothing.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
'This means one of two things… The first one is that he's better than me at camouflage and hiding his presence. But I don't think that's possible…the second is that he's so much stronger than me that he's just playing with me right now, looking at my every movement. Hell, even now, he might be looking at me like a hawk striking down his prey.'
"Come out!" Aiden shouted in the middle of the forest.
He knew that he was completely alone except for that one person who was still hiding, and there was only one thing on Aiden's mind at the moment.
Either that man would die, or Aiden would capture him and get some information out of him about everything that happened over the years.
However, even after a few seconds of waiting, no one came out. The man was still hiding, observing Aiden.
'Do I need to make him come out?' Aiden suddenly thought.
What do you think?
