Chapter 406 - Bo, The Crazy Scientist (I)
Aiden wasn't sure if that was the greatest idea since he had no idea of the real strength that the man might possess.
After all, no matter how hard Aiden tried…he couldn't locate the man even when he had heard him just a few seconds ago.
'Still, it's not like I have a lot of choices…' Aiden thought as he continued to stare at one tree in particular.
He didn't know why, but he felt like the unknown man was hiding behind it. Continue your journey with empire
"I know you're watching. Come out!" Aiden demanded once again.
'Well, if he doesn't want to come out…I'll have to do it myself.'
Aiden didn't waste time and activated [Camouflage]; his entire being disappeared, and no one could see him anymore.
He quickly made his way toward the few trees in front of him, hoping to catch the man who had just ordered those experiments to attack him.
He dashed forward to the tree where he had expected the man to be hiding…but there was no one. Aiden decided to run toward all the nearby trees, but there was no one.
He still couldn't find the man.
And as time passed, another incertitude appeared on Aiden's mind.
He wasn't even sure that there was a man hiding. Maybe he had been hallucinating…the stress he was currently under might have played tricks with his mind. There weren't many ways for him to be aware of what was happening.
'Shit, and my mana is running low…'
Aiden realized that if he didn't find him in the following minutes, then he would probably have to give up and get answers from that man.
'Still, I'm sure that there is someone. There has to be! Why else would there be Lab Experiments here in the middle of nowhere?'
Aiden's frustration was starting to show as time passed. He couldn't deal with this anymore. He had to find the man.
He could feel the effects of [Camouflage] dwindling, meaning that the man would once again be able to hide from him.
'Ah. Fuck this. This won't do. This won't work.'
Aiden realized that his tactics wouldn't lead him anywhere and deactivated [Camouflage], keeping the little mana left he had within him.
"I KNOW YOU'RE WATCHING ME! FUCKING COME OUT!"n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Aiden didn't like to be the one who was in danger. Well, no one would like to be in such a position.
After all, in a chase, who would like to the prey?
"Young man," a deep and hollow resounded right above Aiden's head. There was a good distance away from him, but the provenance of the voice was clearly from the skies.
'Why didn't I think of that before?'
Aiden could basically only blame himself when faced with such words.
Aiden finally looked up after minutes of searching, and the figure of a man could be seen.
His appearance was quite strange for a world where Cultivation and the usage of Qi were primary. He was wearing a long white coat, exactly like that of a scientist. His hair was long and flew in the wind and reflected the beautiful moon that was right behind him.
He looked like a God flying in the skies. However, there was no mistake to it…this man was only a normal man who held quite a good amount of strength.
Because from the aura the man was emitting…Aiden knew there was no chance for him to beat him.
No chance whatsoever.
The only way would have been to catch him by surprise, but…let's be honest, that wasn't possible anymore.
The man knew exactly where Aiden was right now, and there was no way that Aiden could escape his radar, which was most likely much superior to Aiden's.
"What's your name, young man?" The man wearing a long white coat uttered as he started flying down.
For some reason, there was a strange smirk on his face as if he had found something quite interesting in the abilities Aiden had just used.
Aiden looked back at the man and wondered what name he should use.
'My real one? Or should I already try to spread around the name of the Reaper?' Aiden thought, unsure what the best solution was.
However, after giving it a few seconds of thought, Aiden realized that there was an obvious choice.
He decided to spread the name of the Reaper that way if Wu Lan heard the name. She would know that Aiden had arrived and would most likely be trying to find him at all costs.
Well, that is…if everything went to plan, and the chances of that happening were quite low, to say the least.
'If Li Feng stayed conscious while I controlled his body. The chances that Wu Lan is still alive are quite low. After all, she sort of "cheated" on the most powerful man in this world. Who knows what kind of punishment she received…'
Aiden could only hope that Li Feng forgot everything there was about him. That would be the best-case scenario.
"I'm the Reaper," Aiden proudly declared as the scientist descended from the sky a little bit faster.
"The Reaper? That's your real name?" The man frowned, finding the name quite weird.
"I…I lived a hard life. That was the name that was given to me when I was still very young," Aiden replied as he mixed both truths and lies in the same sentence, which was quite clever.
"I see…and do you have any idea of who I am?" The man asked when he saw that Aiden didn't look scared of him, which was…certainly uncommon.
Aiden hesitated for a few seconds about what to say because he knew that answering "no" could potentially hurt the ego of some of the strongest people in the world. However, he had no choice but to tell the truth.
Lying in such a situation was way too risky.
"Actually, I don't. Mind telling me?"
The scientist smirked. "I'm Bo. Well, the rest of the world might know me as the Crazy Scientist, but my real name is Bo."
What do you think?
