Vampire Nightlife

Chapter 144 City Of Nyx (3)

A silence fell in the group of people gathered outside of the building, those who were in earshot of the ongoing conversation and noticed that something special was happening.

This was what Theodore was afraid of and why he preferred to have rushed through the city of Nyx. It wasn't only because of Lily's conditions, but because of the chances of this occurring.

Alexei didn't give much thought when he realized that the blond Vampire behind him was someone in authority.

However, for Stacy, Chaerin and Lukas, the situation was rapidly becoming clearer.

Theodore thought he could avoid the situation altogether by simply rushing, but through a series of unfortunate events and the natural connection of purer blood Vampires–a member of the Aurelius House had found the Vardokens.

"We don't know what you're talking about." Stacy said.

The Young Lord from the Aurelius House raised a brow and was about to interject when Chaerin took over.

Chaerin gritted her teeth and stared at the red-haired intern in front of her and quickly grabbed her wrist.

"I'm invoking our right to get a Family Pass. We've missed you terribly Junia–how about we all meet up immediately?"

Theodore's eyes immediately lit up and he nodded immediately.

"I'm sure that uncle is missing us immediately. We should all get going."

Lukas was sure that it looked incredibly suspicious, and the only one who could probably pass off as Chaerin's and this Junia's relative was Theodore was due to his hair color, but he immediately yanked Stacy's hand who pulled along Alexei.

It was an awkward situation where the poor intern, who Lukas didn't think was actually named Junia, was suddenly forced to accommodate all of them and lead them away from the line.

This action promptly got sour looks from all other Vampires in the line and the odd look from the blond Vampire, but they had managed to get away.

There was only an amused look from Young Lord Aurelius' face as they all went away, but he let them be for now.

The group ended up outside of the building in an alleyway that was mostly free from onlookers.

"I… I don't know all of you." Junia Atticus stared at her cousin's companions with an uneasy look. She was someone who knew the son of the Overlord Aurelius and knew they could potentially get into a lot of trouble.

She could not, in good conscience, fib to save her life.

"If you really wish to help me out then register us all for a pass and let us leave immediately." Chaerin flatly said.

"It's best if you can just register all of us members of the Atticus family." Theodore added, then glanced at the Vardokens and Lukas. "Or at least for the three of them."

"Why me?" Lukas complained.

"Your papers aren't exactly the most accurate in the eyes of Nyx City–everyone's bloodline needs to be recognized and registered here. We'll waste our time trying to find out your ancestry." Theodore complained.

Lukas raised a brow. He almost assumed that Theodore was mightily interested in his background, but some other things took priority.

"I can't just do that…" Junia protested weakly and then looked at Chaerin. "You… you haven't contacted us in forever. I'm not sure if I'm actually speaking with my relative right now–"

"You know it's me. Let's not waste any more time–I'm not here to deal with the family right now, so if you could just give us our passes, then we'll be on our own merry way."

Lukas thought that Chaerin's relationship with her other relatives was something painful and something she wished to avoid, but somehow, it seemed like they were a nuisance more than anything.

"Who are these people?" Junia glanced at the two siblings and Lukas. They were the ones who needed their identities to be faked and she knew that the first two caught the eye of the Overlord's son.

"That shouldn't matter to you." Theodore said.

"... It should if I'm really going to help you!" Junia exclaimed and pressed a hand to her chest. She looked, or at least attempted to look, fiercely at the group.

"You know, it's more or less best if you don't figure it out." Alexei crossed his arms and nodded sagely. He tried to give her a grin. "It's for your own good, Miss."

"A-are you guys criminals?" Junia backed away uncertainly.

Lukas tried not to sigh, but with Theodore around, her attempting to run away was a pitiful attempt if she tried. And Lukas could catch her too–not that he'd do something like that with Chaerin's relative.

"Do you honestly think that this Young Lord would like to associate with criminals?" Theodore raised a brow.

"Um no, but…" Junia nervously looked at the two Vardokens.

"I don't really think we should lie anymore." Stacy sighed. "That guy managed to figure it out on his own by mere presence–what's the worst that could happen?"

"Are you really serious about that?" Theodore's gaze narrowed at them. "You know your background very well and yet you're willing to risk it all for convenience?"

Stacy and Alexei both exchanged looks.

Alexei knew that Theodore was telling them that revealing that they were Vardokens was a terrible idea, but Stacy had a gut feeling that there was something that Theodore wasn't saying.

"Wouldn't you want us to get punished?" Stacy carefully asked.

"You're a vital member of the plan to succeed." Theodore responded.

"I really can't understand why you hate us so much when you're not really from Lux." Stacy frowned. "This level of reviling us… it's a little too much, don't you think?"

Lukas didn't know what to say or do at this point–it was about time that the two siblings expressed their thoughts and feelings to Theodore.

Repression was never a really good thing.

Junia stood uneasily in between the group and was ready to slip away, but Chaerin had a vice-like grip on her. She sniffed a little. "I really don't want to be here…"
